McCain/Palin "Road to Victory" campaign rally: With just under two weeks to go until the 2008 presidential election; the Republican candidacy team of Senator John McCain (R-AZ) and Governor Sarah Palin of Alaska rallied with local Hamilton, Butler and Warren County politicians and their supporters in Hanger C at Lunken Airport in Cincinnati, Ohio on Oct. 22, 2008. Earlier that day the Associated Press released a poll stating the election was closer than ever. Ohio , being a crucial swing state, was a must win for the GOP duo as no Republican candidate in recent history had ever won the election without winning Ohio. McCain would go on to lose both Ohio and the general election to his rival Sen. Barack Obama (D-IL).

In the early 70's and late 80's many attempts were made to attempt to restore the theatre. Sawyer Point Flooding - March 2008: On March 21, 2008 fellow photographer and friend Dane Thomas (www.danethomas.com) and I took a trip to the Cincinnati Zoo then downtown. For the past month tempratures had been rising and snow had been melting from the winter. Along with the melting snow came the rising water. Very light flooding occured along the river banks, but many parts of Sawyer Point were temporarily swallowed by the Ohio River providing for an unusual view of the park. |

The Cincinnati Gardens: These Photographs were taken during a visit to the Gardens in February 2008 with the permission of the owners during a time when the arena was open to the public for youth leagues. History: Opening in 1949, the arena which seated 11,000 patrons, became Cincinnati's premiere indoor venue. Modeled after Maple Leaf Gardens in Toronto, this area would go through history playing host to professional basketball, indoor soccer, concerts, Richard Nixon, Elvis, boxing, roller derby, monster trucks, and so much more. Perhaps though, the Gardens most interesting event history is rooted in Ice Hockey. For full story click here. |

Riverfront Transit Center: Originally intended to be the city's main public bus terminal serving Cincinnati's METRO and Northern Kentucky's TANK buses the transit center now sits mostly empty. It is used occasionally during large events like Oktoberfest Zinzinnati, Bengals and Reds games occuring at the same time, and a small section used to house school buses for the freedom center. Mostly though it sits dark and empty with plans for a future light rail line put on hold. Myself and another photographer tried to enter the facility on September 20, 2008 during Oktoberfest. Once we were in we were stopped and asked to leave, being told that the Transit Center was "Not open to the public." Kind of ironic since it was publically funded, built, and maintained. |

The Anderson Ferry: From horse drawn carriages to modern automobiles, the Anderson Ferry has been in operation since 1817. Connecting the shores of Constance, KY and Cincinnati, Ohio, the Ferry is just six miles west of downtown Cincinnati and just a few miles north of the Cincinnati/Northern Kentucky International Airport. Allowing it's users a unique alternative to the interstate, the Anderson Ferry is the sole survivor of many ferries that once served the Cincinnati area. Despite threats of a new bridge, rising fuel prices and a slumping economy the ferry and her crew continue to operate an Ohio River tradition into the future.
